Xbox 360 reaches six million European sales
Lydia Sung - Monday, September 22nd, 2008 | 10:48AM (PT)

Price cuts yield more results for Microsoft console

The Xbox 360 price cuts in Europe have paid off.  Microsoft has hit six million sales in units across the region, and the company intends to take full advantage of their recent success.

A "launch-level" European ad campaign for the Xbox 360 will be starting this week.  The ads highlight the 360's upcoming developments such as the Dashboard revamp and highly recognizable titles like Lips, Scene It?, You're In The Movies and Fable II.

Chris Lewis, VP of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division, voiced their satisfaction with the boost in European sales:

"We’re very excited that more consumers in Europe are joining the ever-growing Xbox 360 community.  We’re now the best-value next-gen console on the market with an entry-level ERP of £129.99, and consumers have clearly responded to that offering."

Earlier this month, 360 sales doubled across the United States after a price cut, with some retailers reporting weekend console selling at six times the previous week rate.  Price cuts and heavy promotion for Square Enix's Infinite Undiscovery managed to put the 360 at number one in Japan for the week ending in September 14, which is a milestone for the American console in itself.

Yep, especially since they put all the old 360's that have the possibility of getting RRoD in a warehouse, and are now releasing them into Europe.

Well Sony wasn't fair to the PAL user customers, Sony first they give us the PS3 60GB but worse backward compatible then USA and Japan since SCEE removed the EE chip so Europe got worse backward compatible and not only that but SCEE has the nerve to actualy charges us more even though they removed something from the PAL version.

Then when Sony stopped making PS3 60GB there was no more PS3 with backward compatible in Europe since SCEE stopped making while SCEA and SCEJ still continued to make PS3 with backward compatible.

SCEE treated the PAL user like dirt.

At least Microsoft and Nintendo give the console the same features worldwide.

Japs where using techonology invented by Americans in the first place. They stoled most of our techonology back in the 70's 80's and 90's. You might think of Sony inventing the compact disc but they didn't it was invented in the late 60's by an American. LCD panels were also invented in America so was plasma displays us in TV's. Home video games are also American invention.
