Price cuts yield more results for Microsoft console
The Xbox 360 price cuts in Europe have paid off. Microsoft has hit six million sales in units across the region, and the company intends to take full advantage of their recent success.
A "launch-level" European ad campaign for the Xbox 360 will be starting this week. The ads highlight the 360's upcoming developments such as the Dashboard revamp and highly recognizable titles like Lips, Scene It?, You're In The Movies and Fable II.
Chris Lewis, VP of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division, voiced their satisfaction with the boost in European sales:
"We’re very excited that more consumers in Europe are joining the ever-growing Xbox 360 community. We’re now the best-value next-gen console on the market with an entry-level ERP of £129.99, and consumers have clearly responded to that offering."
Earlier this month, 360 sales doubled across the United States after a price cut, with some retailers reporting weekend console selling at six times the previous week rate. Price cuts and heavy promotion for Square Enix's Infinite Undiscovery managed to put the 360 at number one in Japan for the week ending in September 14, which is a milestone for the American console in itself.
