Aeria Games' recent acquisition of  Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine Online from Cave means the online PC RPG will see release in Europe and North America, in four languages: English, French, German and Spanish. As far as a release date goes: "soon".

Shin Megami Tensei is a major property of the well-known Japanese developer and publisher, Atlus. Known to Western gamers more commonly as being part of the Persona series, it is an extensive one in Japan, and was begun in 1992 for the Super Famicom. The parent series, Megami Tensei, has gained popularity in the Western world only in recent years, as many of the series' elements (religious and occult themes, Nazism, etc.) were considered too taboo to allow localization. This latest edition, Imagine, is set between Shin Megami Tensei and Shin Megami Tensei 2, and brought the series online upon its release in Japan early last year. Below is a trailer of sorts for the game:

Imagine is set in a fictional post-apocalyptic Tokyo, where survivors try to restore their fallen city by defeating demons and solving puzzles (like you would). Each player takes on the role of "Devil Buster" and success depends on your forming alliances with demons or slaying them.

Here are some of the game's features:

Strategic Real-time Fighting System - Choose between attacking, parrying and defending in real time.
Diverse Weaponry – Use a wide array of weapons from medieval swords to modern-day rifles and handguns.
Devil Partnership – Players negotiate with devils to assist in battle and missions.
Devil Fusing – Players can combine multiple devils to create new breeds.
Private Dungeons – In addition to the public battle areas, players can access private dungeons to hunt and collect items with their friends.

soon
it'll be here by 2012

i remember watching a video about it on youtube with a japanese guy talking and stuff, i don't know if its the video you have put on the article

i remember i was so excited because i had just finished smt lucifer's call (for the first time, finally, the endless hours of fighting ridiculously and literally thousands of random battles had paid off)

and now the wait is coming at an end, and what's more is that p3 fes is going to be released in europe soon AND persona 4 is being released tomorrow (or today, or yesterday, it depends on when you are reading this) in north america

i wonder when the next smt will come out...and for what console(s), it'll probably be a ps3 exclusive , but wait, star ocean 4 isn't so there is still hope however, unless memory fails me, atlus hasn't worked with microsoft...but i may be wrong, still, even if they haven't, well, there is a first time for everything...

It's funny that all these games I remember playing on various platforms over the years are suddenly going MMO. THE END IS NEAR!
