Imprisoned child killer bored of Gamecube, gets a Wii
Sean Ridgeley - Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 | 9:54AM (PT)

Threatening suicide, killer is well-accommodated

Ian Huntley is a convicted killer, having murdered two ten year-old "schoolpals". Right now he lives a "cushy life" in a private room in the healthcare wing of Frankland Prison, a maximum security institution: designer clothes, three meals a day brought to him, a television, CD player, and soon, a Wii.

It's a really odd situation: Huntley has threatened to kill himself multiple times in the past, and is doing it again in order to upgrade from a Gamecube to a Wii:

A jail source said: "Huntley has been asking for a Wii for months.

"When he moved to Frankland in February he was given a Nintendo Game Cube - but after only a few weeks he began complaing it was out of date.

"Management are desperate to stop him going though with threats he's made to kill himself and by giving him a Wii they believe they can take his mind away from harming himself in any way."

More than that, the guards have been instructed to call him by his first name, and treat him like family, despite their ambivalence. Want weirder? Warders will join him in playing the Wii. Picture that advertisement.

The source said: "He has almost everything done for him and is waited on hand and foot by the officers assigned to his care.

"He lives in luxury - yet the parents of [the victims] are living a nightmare."

If he was going to kill himself, let him, he doesn't deserve to get what he wants after what he did, and this is why the system is flawed.

I would have gave him some rope and told him to go ahead and do it.

AND DAMN! I CAN'T EVEN GET A 360, but this spoiled rotten murderer gets everything he wants!

tell him that if he waits three years, he'll get a wii, but if he kills himself he'll never be able to play it

Why keep him from killing himself though? He is human scum that the world would be better without.

If that offends anyone, I am sorry, but it had to be said!

but honestly the NERVE of some people

kids in africa die from hunger or illnesses every minute and they never did anything, they were just born at the wrong place, the wrong time

and he that killed killed two 10-year-olds gets that much...shows how stupid the system is, you kill people, you get named a *bleep*, they stick you somewhere not even close to a prison

Well I think the idea is they want him to stay alive and suffer in prison..but..doesn't really seem like suffering..

x_revenege> I concur. I'm grateful all the time for not being born in one of those places..which is sort of awful to say, but yeah. I like it here.

Well, if I'm a prison officer, I'd let him committing suicide, instead of providing him with Wii. Come on, I mean that killer does not deserve anything except death sentence.

Yeah!! death sentence is the best option, not the Gamecube or Wii.

If he thinks a wii is worth dying for, let him die for it. Send the wii off to the victims family and say "He killed himself for this"

When it rains, it pours. If he is going to kill himself for a Wii, don't give him a Wii. If he kills himself, he will still not get a Wii. A game console isn't worth dying for.
