Threatening suicide, killer is well-accommodated
Ian Huntley is a convicted killer, having murdered two ten year-old "schoolpals". Right now he lives a "cushy life" in a private room in the healthcare wing of Frankland Prison, a maximum security institution: designer clothes, three meals a day brought to him, a television, CD player, and soon, a Wii.
It's a really odd situation: Huntley has threatened to kill himself multiple times in the past, and is doing it again in order to upgrade from a Gamecube to a Wii:
A jail source said: "Huntley has been asking for a Wii for months.
"When he moved to Frankland in February he was given a Nintendo Game Cube - but after only a few weeks he began complaing it was out of date.
"Management are desperate to stop him going though with threats he's made to kill himself and by giving him a Wii they believe they can take his mind away from harming himself in any way."
More than that, the guards have been instructed to call him by his first name, and treat him like family, despite their ambivalence. Want weirder? Warders will join him in playing the Wii. Picture that advertisement.
The source said: "He has almost everything done for him and is waited on hand and foot by the officers assigned to his care.
"He lives in luxury - yet the parents of [the victims] are living a nightmare."
I would have gave him some rope and told him to go ahead and do it.
AND DAMN! I CAN'T EVEN GET A 360, but this spoiled rotten murderer gets everything he wants!
