Lionhead's Black & White to incorporate TouchSense technology
Now in addition to raising giant beasties in Lionhead's upcoming title Black & White, you'll be able to experience a wide range of physical sensations during gameplay as well thanks to Immersion Corp.'s TouchSense technology. Immersion has announced on January 29th 2001 that Lionhead Studios has incorporated "a fully featured library of tactile sensations" into Black & White using TouchSense.
Thanks to the TouchSense technology, gamers will experience tactile sensations corresponding to events and environments within the game world. For example, you'll be able to feel fish nibbling your hand as you feed them. (okay, that was straight from the press release but I'm sure you can imagine some other examples) Lionhead hopes this will add that sense of touch, as well as a new dimension of realism, missing in games.
Of course, you'll need TouchSense-enabled mice like the
iFeel MouseMan to able to cop a feel from Black & White.
