My Aquarium for WiiWare: new screen shots and trailer
Lydia Sung - Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 | 2:09PM (PT)

So much cheaper than getting a real one

Hudson Entertainment revealed a new teaser trailer and screens from My Aquarium to WiiWare on the Wii.  It's an original IP for digital download, and is basically what you might imagine -- a customizable virtual aquarium.  It's a simple but practical idea, considering how much a real aquarium of this magnitude might cost, and no special knowledge is required to care for these little guys.

Owners can choose from a wide selection of 40 different types of freshwater and saltwater fish, which can cohabit without a problem.  You'll be able to interact with your fish, as well as learn fun facts through the Fish Database.  The My Aquarium software also interacts with the Forecast Channel, changing tank conditions based on the weather in your area.

In addition to the actual fish, Wii owners can adjust background design, gravel style, lighting, glass color, plant life and other decorations in up to six different aquariums.  If your friends also have My Aquarium, you'll be able to send each other aquariums via WiiConnect24.

No word yet on how much My Aquarium will cost, but how can you put a price on fun?

"how can you put a price on fun?"

That's what I say everytime I see Blizzard on my billing statement.

I believe the going rate for NES games is 800 wiipoints (8 dollars) up to 2000 ($20) or so points for N64 games.

The wiiware titles all seem to be in the 1000 - 2000 point range.

I'm going to guess that this particular game will be on the low-end, maybe 10-15 dollars.

Newsflash

Apparently this program is going for 500 wiipoints in Japan. Another incentive for the masses it seems.

It kinda reminds of the aquarium in Dark Cloud 2.
