There's no NEED for a sequel. I know it's technically a bad sign if sales aren't high enough to warrant one, but the game is great on its own. A sequel would just destroy it like they do many other game titles.

Anyone who's played Okami knows the story wraps up well enough. And I feel despite its clout -- story, design and aesthetics -- relies heavily on the novelty of the original. And novelty only goes so far.

I wonder if they're also just not willing to note that they nuked the studio to begin with and few if any members are still employed by Capcom. In fact they went about and made their own independent studio and sought financial backing outside of Capcom.

It's one of those things where if they made a sequel it wouldn't have a shred of the heart that the original had anyway and it would rely on gimmicks to really push it since the people who came up with it aren't around to put the thought and same investment in.

I haven't gotten Okami (I'd get it on the Wii, if I ever get one).....But here is an idea....What about a pseudo~sequel? A 'spiritual successor', if you will?

Similar aesthetic style, similar gameplay element, but nothing to do with Okami, directly? I can see there being an air, or water based world that could have a similar sort of gameplay element and art style....

I agree with tallteen86. Spiritual sequels have worked well in the past with similar games. Specifically Ico. The original was an amazing game, and so was Shadow of the Colossus, and they had very little similarity between the two.
