Promising MMORPG site launches

After an initial teaser page, the official Runs of Magic website has just gone online. Moreover, those interested in the free MMORPG can now "pre-register" for the closed beta phase which is due in late autumn. And if you're letting out a hopeless groan after hearing "free MMORPG", well, maybe hold off a bit, the game looks like it has real potential (I recommend checking out the trailer through the site, which we'll have on Neoseeker Videos soon). I mean, I wasn't deterred from the website, and considering how picky I am with games of this kind, that's saying something!

Lots of detailed information, screenshots and a trailer are now live on the site, examining the world of Toberea the game takes place in. All the goods on the goods are up, too: skills, characteristics, classes (the six main ones are warrior, scout, rogue, mage, cleric and knight), and forums to discuss it all on.

On launch day, over 600 quests are promised to be available straight away, and 36 individual classes to pick from, too. Battle-wise, players can utilize combo attacks, mounts, guilds, a crafting/reputation system, PVP, bosses, and more. And for the interior decorator in all of us, there's the option to arrange your home with individual furnishings (I'm guessing this'll be fueled by microtransactions). Happily, updates are planned for the game every three to four months with free add-ons and updates.

Here is a full feature list of what to expect:

• Free2play, no monthly fees, free download
• Dual class system with switchable primary and secondary classes
• Enthralling background story
• Already over 600 quests and level comprehensive quest series on launch
• Instanced and persistent dungeons
• Individually developed skills and spells
• Armor sets with special bonuses
• Dynamic item system: Upgrades with hundreds of runes
• Activatable PvP system (Player vs. Player duels)
• Epic crafting system with the possibility to improve existing items
• Individual coloring of clothes and armor
• Housing: personalization with individual furniture for players and guilds
• Special zones for guild houses
• Reputation system
• Scalable user interface based on the users preference (development of your own add-ons possible)
• In-game map and radar system to find dealers, resources and quests easily
• Auction house: auction and purchase items
• Teleporting possibilities per runes
• Different and unique mounts
• Controlling with mouse (point & click) and keyboard (WASD or arrow keys) possible

The video was pretty good (considering it was a free MMORPG game)....If nothing else, the title animation at the beginning was awesome looking

You can put in your own add-ons (possibly)? Sounds good....

Don't play MMORPGs myself, but this doesn't seem like a bad one to me, either...

Also, anybody having problems DLing the wallpapers? I click on them to get them to display, but when I right-click, it just gives options for links (which would save as a HTML document).....

Did I miss something? I'll kick myself if ther was some sort of tab on the image, that would allow me to DL it >_<

BTW: using Firefox 2.0

This looks not too bad, but does anyone else feel like if you've played one fantasy MMO, you've played them all.

I wish developers would try something different for a change.

If this was an MMO about... being a koala bear, I'd play it tonight.

@ kpiess: Although it is not an MMO, Spore will be very different from most games and hopefully have the addictiveness of an MMO.
