We knew Castlevania was coming to the Wii, but in the form of a brawler? Now that actually took me by surprise. According GoNintendo, the in-game models/art are designed by the Death Note manga artist, Takeshi Obata. Even more interesting!

It could have been an action-adventure title, or maybe Castlevania director Igarashi-san is still kinda nervous about making another 3D one after his previous attempts. Oh well, if this is the way it's gonna be then they better throw in characters from other Konami series as potential bonuses! Suikoden, mmm...

I read that on some forums, about Obata taking over for this game, but I wasn't sure at the time so decided not to post anything about it. You've confirmed it for me, thanks. ;P

Based on comments I've read on other sites, seems like most Castlevania fans are surprised by this, if not skeptical. I dunno, it's just a little bizarre to me, and to be honest, most third party games for the Wii don't turn out very well. Remember that Soul Calibur action/adventure game? Ye-ah. No.

Ha ha ha, I think Soul Calibur Legends is a game even Wii fans needed to shield from their minds! However, it did have the lead character from Tales of Symphonia as a playable bonus. Looking at the scan snapshots provided by Jeux-France, the character designs are... interesting.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing this in action though. I doubt it's gonna be Soul Calibur level, but as long as it's over the top I can actually sorta dig it.

And Maria really does look like Misa from Death Note.

No one should be allowed near Castlevania art except Ayami Kojima T_T What did they do to Alucard!
