Square Enix announces it's entrance into Xbox 360 territory
Dom C. - Saturday, June 21st, 2008 | 4:41AM (PT)

Will they be able to attract Xbox gamers?

Square Enix Inc. have announced an excellent RPG line-up for the Xbox 360.

While Square Enix have generally been a Sony company, sometimes venturing into Nintendo territory with spin-offs and remakes on the DS, and Crystal Chronicles on the GameCube and Wii, this is a massive step for Square Enix into a territory which isn't a massive Role Playing Game field.

“Square Enix is expanding on its commitment to deliver exciting gaming experiences to our fans all around the world,” said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix, Inc. and Square Enix, Ltd. “INFINITE UNDISCOVERY, THE LAST REMNANT and STAR OCEAN: The Last Hope represent significant steps in bringing our titles to a global audience and to make each new release a global event.”

The games that will be released are:

"Infinite Undiscovery,"

INFINITE UNDISCOVERY is a collaborative project with fan favorite development studio tri-Ace Inc. (STAR OCEAN and VALKYRIE PROFILE®). The game will be released worldwide in September with the North American version shipping on September 2nd, available across Europe and other PAL territories on September 5th and released in Japan on September 11th.

"STAR OCEAN: The Last Hope"

STAR OCEAN: The Last Hope is the latest entry in the futuristic space opera RPG series STAR OCEAN. The game is scheduled for a global release in 2009.

"The Last Remnant"

THE LAST REMNANT is the first RPG in a new series brought to you by Square Enix’s next-generation creators, scheduled for a global release this winter on Xbox 360.

The RPGs are all set to be released in late 2008-2009.

Xbox 360 gamers haven't witnessed many RPGs on their console, besides games like Blue Dragon, hopefully Squeenix are set to change that.

The 360 isn't completely RPG poor... there is also Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata, Final Fantasy XI, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, Oblivion and Phantasy Star Online.

Even if it isn't RPG poor, it is good to see that Square Enix is branching.

I'm mostly interested in Infinite Undiscovery on the 360. SO4, I'll get on the PS3, if possible. SO4 SHOULD be multi-console, though we haven't heard anything about that (would be stupid of them to NOT release it on the PS3.....)

From the screens I have seen on Infinite Undiscovery ( Game Informer long ago) I think combat will be turn based. As for the other I have no idea.

RPG?? All they can make is RPG?

Where the hell is the sequel of Square Enix's popular Parasite Eve? They should reinvent it on next-gen consoles!!!

The only reason is because Microsoft is paying them Square-Enix doesn't like Xbox 360 much they just love the money Microsoft is given them. Soon all those time exclusive will available on the selling RPG brand PlayStation. Xbox 360 only sells FPS nothing else. Sony has the rights to Final Fantasy XIII and any other FF games for that matter a life time excluive.
