HD3870 coming to the Mac
Kevin Spiess - Friday, June 13th, 2008 | 11:36AM (PT)

Gaming possibilities open up

Mac owners with a hankering for better framerates will be happy to hear that the HD 3870 video card will be coming their way soon.

Made for the Apple Mac Pro systems, the new ATI Radeon HD 3870 "Mac & PC edition" will have the same specs as the PC HD3870 which came out last Novemember: a 256-bit memory interface tied the 512MB of GDDR4 memory, 320 stream processors, hardware decoding of HD video, and the standard twin dual-link DVI ports.

The card will be available in late June for $219, which is a bit of mark-up from the current price of around a $150 for a PC HD3870.

Macs are far better than windows. M$ cannot make a OS that is that stable anymore.

And Macs are? I have to use a Mac a school and they perpetually crashing and some of the bits, like the disc drive on the laptops, aren't implemented properly.

Aren't Lap top Macs relatively new? Besides, The Mac OS is incredibly stable, though sometimes I wonder about the hardware.

I am not saying that the Mac OS is stable or not, but I just don't like it. Maybe it is because I have used Windows for so long, but I just love the complexities of Windows so much more.

I see Mac as being a high-priced computer for people that just need something that is simple and easy to get done what they want to do, not a bunch of hassle.

But I LOVE hassle. Therefore the Mac OS is just too boring for me...

Hope this makes sense!

It'd be great if people actually got things right.

OS X versus Windows

Not.

MAC VerSUS Teh WInDoez

Why?

OS X is an Operating System
Windows is an Operating System

Mac's are a series of computer systems from Apple, interestingly enough they're built on x86 platforms so what they had as an advantage is now shared with the PC marketplace (no PPC cpu)

OS X isn't godly, anyone who is a power user knows that it's not free from crashing, hell using FCP I can still have the system lock on me. People talk of OS X being incredibly stable but that's because they're working on top of BSD to start with, something available to everyone else as well (FreeBSD) it's not that hard to claim security when others helped form it for you already.

Apple has been producing laptops for a long time, it's not that shocking to see it having random errors, they use the same components as anyone else so they're not invulnerable.

It makes perfect sense, you sold your soul to Bill Gates.

Xp and Vista have honestly been perfectly stable for me. OS X offers nothing to me to make it worth being so limited (in the way of hardware and software available). I also REALLY hate their adverts and the general way Apple act, always so damn full of themselves =.= I can't help but hate stuff like that.

Yeah, I pretty much hate those commercials they have...

...geez.
