Shake & Bake: Phoenix can bake a soil sample now!
William Henning - Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 | 1:15PM (PT)

Shaking managed to un-stick soil sample.

It looks like the attempts to vibrate the Martian soil through the mesh screen into the TEGA oven worked, and Phoenix can begin its multi-day heating of the sample in order to determine what temperatures the soil will release carbon dioxide and water.

It will take about a week to get results, and Phoenix will still have seven other single-use ovens to bake more mars cookies.
