Video card runs on both gasoline and electricity
NVIDIA video card partner Zotac has been the first to come up with a design of the 8800 GT that supports Hybrid Power. This isn't merely a matter of updating some software -- the N8800GT-1024D3 HP model upcoming from Zotac has additional chips (pictured) that enable Hybrid Power.

If you're scratching your head over the term "Hybrid Power" -- it's a new power-saving feature from NVIDIA that lets your GPU run in extreme low-power mode if not needed, only activating itself when required for 3D graphics. The feature is pretty good, as if you have a power-hungry card like a 9800 GX2, unless you are gaming the card really doesn't need a continuous supply of power. And whether you like saving the environment or money, saving power is always a smart idea. [ Low power consumption also translates into less fan noise and heat output. If you are not familiar with Zotac, they are a relatively new company based out of Hong Kong, established in 2006. They sell video cards and motherboards.
This N8800GT-1024D3 HP model will also have 3 phase power, and will be overclocked -- so it looks like it'll be a fine 8800 GT. This product has not been formerly announced it seems, so availability (especially in North America) is unknown at this point.

As for future NVIDIA products, I expect that Hybrid power will become standard on all the high-end cards, and probably the mid-range cards as well.
Keep in mind dudes: you need a motherboard that supports Hybrid power if you want to use it.
