Another one bites the dust: Id Software leaves ESA

Yet another company jumps ship, how much longer until it sinks completely?

Another one bites the dust: Id Software leaves ESA Image 1

Id Software, famous for the DOOM and Quake series of FPS fame, have now confirmed that they are no longer members of the Entertainment Software Association, joining the ranks of LucasArts, Activision and Vivendi.  Though the ESA have yet to comment on the 4th departure, Michael Gallagher is sure to be getting slightly nervous by now, who knows if other companys will follow suit? What exactly IS going on in the ESA, rumour has it that the developers want out, and the only company that actually wants to support the ESA is EA.

The E3 media Expo in July is a massive event, where companies show off their recent creations, though if too many leave in the next two months the halls might feel a bit deserted.

This had been talked about a while back, with id having no actual answer to what would occur seeing as their primary publisher (Activision) had left the ESA already. It seemed like a given that they would be departing from the group as well seeing as their ties to Activision are a lot more beneficial than their ties to the ESA.
