Nexi: MIT's emotive robot
William Henning - Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 | 11:34AM (PT)

Emotive or creepy? You decide.

Nexi rolls around on a Segway-like wheeled base, and has a "face" that can express many emotions. Two cut down arms - looking like an amputated Terminator - complete the picture.

The idea behind the "Mobile, Dexterous and Social" (MDS) robotic platform is to have robots that can participate in interaction with humans and other robots - and learn behaviours from them.

Frankly I think MIT would be better off if it did not look like a chopped up robotic child - I like robotics, but I found the arms creepy.
