Anne Diamond says games are "sickening in their gratuitous use of violence and bloodthirsty imagery"
Television personality Anne Diamond seems to have a vendetta with video games, going to so far as to say games like Resident Evil 4 shouldn't be sold to adults (this all coming from a Daily Mail article).
It's all very amusing, especially her take on Dead or Alive 4:

Clearly, she's jealous. I mean, I'd be if I had that look on my face all the time, which I expect she does. And from that description, I'm thinking Diamond would be a healthier individual if she switched to writing smut instead. Really!
This comment on the article is just so ridiculous I have to share:
"The realism of the violence in these games is now getting shocking. The same with the movies - it no longer looks like tomato sauce folks."
"It no longer looks like tomato sauce folks." TOMATO SAUCE?!?!?! I give up. My faith in humanity has now been reduced to ruins.
The publication cites a government report which states games can desensitize kids (but not adults?) to violence. Just a thought, Daily Mail/Anne Diamond, but pretty well your entire front page desensitizes me to violence. You're getting things backwards here. Do you not understand the culture you live in? Violent games wouldn't exist if there was no violence in the world. But there's tons of it, and a publication that furthers fear and desensitization by publishing the content it does daily should know that better than anyone.
The thing is, games aren't really "bad", they're merely channelling the terrible things that go on in the world in a constructive and creative (sometimes even artful) way, and people can take from that what they will. Games are just a mirror, and what people see in them is up to them. The source may seem ridiculous, but I agree with Eminem who said once about violent music (like his) that anyone who is going to go comitt a crime after hearing his music would've comitted the crime anyway. Do you really think a song is going to cause someone to kill someone, or steal from them? The song is an excuse; the game is an excuse. People that fargone will find a reason at some point to do what they're compulsed to do. So, if you really want to do good, concentrate your efforts on spreading love and doing your best to lower the amount of violence in the world. Doing this will require, of course, that you quit confusing the already considerably stupid population with your diseasing nonsensical opinions.
