Success of the PC multiplayer shooter provokes releases for PS3, Xbox 360, Mac and Linux

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is one hell of a confusing game. Firstly, as of yet, it has five different developers (two for the PC version, one for each other). Second, it's technically the follow-up to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (featuring similar gameplay), but it's set in the universe we saw in Quake II and Quake 4, and includes a back story serving as a prequel to Quake II. But in yet another sense, it's a sequel to the only other Quake purely multiplayer title, Quake III Arena. Perhaps a better title would've been Wolfenstein Territory: Quake Wars Arena.

Confusion aside, it's proved quite a successful title on the PC, and publisher Activision has decided to permit the reproduction of that success on the PS3, Xbox  360, Mac and Linux. Word has it the massive feel of the areas in the PC version are looking good so far.

The setting is that the ever-present alien cyborgs Strogg have invaded Earth, and the human GDF forces are there to combat them. Much like the contrasts in the Terran/Protoss races we find in Starcraft, the Strogg boast many technological advances (teleportation anyone?), whereas the GDF forces do not. They do steal them, however, and as you'd expect, the Strogg aren't really too keen on that.

id (one of the developers) have noted one of their goals has been to have both sides play very differently, but like in any good RTS or fighting title, maintain a balance between each other. PC gamers approve, so presumably they'll get it just as right for these other versions.

The AI of the game has been paid due attention, featuring a "Bot Guide" which many gamers are fond of.

As in the PC version, the game will utilize id's MegaTexture technology, something which manages to make the game look better while freeing up the processor somewhat to focus on other things.

Some sites are saying the port might be a rare thing: a console version superior to its PC original. More details available through the source.

Sweet...If it did end up looking better than the PC version, I oculd finally laugh in my friend and his Monster PCs face.

Only thing that matters is if people actually get along. The beta was a disaster for that as it only reaffirmed my commitment to Battlefield 2 since laying around dead asking for a medic wasn't that amusing.

Maybe now people comprehend the alternate objectives to do "team" play but for the while I played in it, no such thing existed.

Even if it gets ported I'm staying away from this monster for sure.

Well, with the Advent of Squad based games, Like rainbow six and Americas army and os on, I think people will have learned something, finally.

Though it sounds like Respawnign is Non Existent in here...is it that way?
