Tennis rackets and familiar faces.
Ready for a trip down memory lane? Well get ready, because SEGA Superstars Tennis ships out today, March 18, to North America (yes, that would be us).
Developed by Sumo Digital, the people responsible for Virtua Tennis 3, this crossover game features some wild tennis courts to match an array of colorful characters from SEGA classics. This includes my childhood crush and personal favorite, Nights (whose gender was never specific, I know).
Of course, the designs are inspired by settings from SEGA worlds, like Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog and Advanced Arena from Super Monkey Ball. Every character will have their own special moves, as described in a recent press release:
"... SEGA Superstars Tennis combines responsive, pick-up-and-play controls with fantastic tennis action to deliver an exhilarating and entertaining experience. Each of the 16 SEGA characters has their specialty in speed, power, control, spin, and all-around ability, as well their own unique Superstar power. Each Superstar power pays tribute to the unique characteristics of each character; from Sonic The Hedgehog’s Super Sonic transformation, the trail of banana peels left by AiAi from Super Monkey Ball™ and even the dancing power of Amigo’s floating maracas from Samba De Amigo™, players will be captivated by the over-the-top atmosphere experienced in SEGA Superstars Tennis."
Players can also unlock music from previous SEGA soundtracks as well as a variety of mini-games.
SEGA Superstars Tennis will be available for the Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii and DS, and both the PlayStation 2 and 3. It'll be less than the normal game price for each respective system.
