Looks like the real deal
In other Grand Theft Auto IV news, what appears to be an opening cinematic from the vertiable mega-hit monster game has popped up on YouTube. The video shows a heavily stylized, slow pan of a black'n'white harbor in Liberty City, as some grand-scale opera music plays in the background.
The debate rages on across the InterForums and comment boards on whether or not this is the real deal or not. Personally, I would say this indeed is actual footage from GTA IV; probably from the first minute of starting a new game. But judge for yourself.
Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV is set for release on April 29th, so you should book that time off of work (or school.)
Yeah, how can you be so certain it is fake, I mean Ihope it is because otherwise it's so effing unfair that that guy got it before us but it looked pretty convincing to me. Though I must admit it did'nt really lok like a GTA game, but like tallteen86 said they may be trying something new . They already know (I'm talking about Rockstar here) that this will be their biggest and most wanted game ever so why shouldn't they spice it up a bit, you know to really sell the hype. But I hope it's fake, otherwise this guy just ruined the opening for me.
i have no interest in any gta game however if this true (which i highly doubt) they have gone way off-track...are they making an action game or a sci-fi rpg?
Naaaaa...that's the real deal I'll say. No one would go to that much trouble for a poorly video'd YouTube clip. Though it's a bit of a departure, I could see Rockstar mixing things up a bit and going with that 'epic' feel to the beginning of the game, with that opera-ish music and being in black and white. And the game is coming out in about a month so I'm sure it is very much completed.
I'm not going to argue if this is real or fake, but to say that it doesn't seem "GTA-ish" means you haven't seen any of the GTA IV trailers. They're very cinematic and "epic" in themselves, with the classical music (including vocals), the dialogue: "I've killed people, smuggled people, sold people."
I was surprised, honestly, the first time I saw it on TV, then realized it was an ad for GTA IV.
Rabid -=> Oh I've seen GTA trailers. I just thought that this particular intro was more 'epic' than the others, with its slow camera movements, very cinematic feel and music. By epic I mean going for a big scale approach to things.
Bruce-=> Well the video is only 1.30 minutes long or whatever. If its just a dude filming in some press booth or whatever, he's not going to edit in gameplay footage etc, or worry about the disc. The videographer's goal isn't to try to prove that his video is valid; he probably just filmed the video at the last moment without giving it much thought, and put up on Youtube for yuks.
I'm not saying its real. But that would be my guess.
Let's look at the other theories:
1- Advanced marketing maneuver : I think this is unlikely because GTA Iv doesn't really require much in the way of buzz making.
2- Dude made a fake video : I don't think this is likely either because the video is high quality and would have taken a decent amount of time to make. If a dude did make a fake, he'd want to advertise it, or make money off it, or at least attach his name to it for some notoriety. But nah, the video just popped up.
Just re-read your early comment though: are you sure that music is from a movie ? That'd be a mark against; but it is not to far fetched to believe that Rockstar merely licensed the music for the game.
Dude I'm totally willing to take that bet! I'll put my big dollahs where my mouth is. How much... 10$? You know I'm good for it to -- (because if I don't pay up I'd expect you to heckle me every day.)
A few rules: 1- the footage can appear any where in GTAIV, not just in the first minute or whatever. 2- I don't expect to be getting this for the Xbox (I'm going to wait it out for the PC version) so I'm going to need see some footage of it online... on second thought maybe I can rent it or one of my buddies will get it... but I'm going to need proof either way. 3-Um that's all I can think off.
Post back here if you are seriously down for a wager and then I'll PM you back with my email address.
But I don't like rule #1, this bet should be based soley on what we saw in this video. And that is that this is what the GTA4 intro is. It doesn't have to be in the exact order as the video but the intro with that boat and stuff has to be in the intro.
Alright bruce! Sounds like a bet... and just for clarification, that rule #1 I made, I'm just saying that that actual video, that animation, exactly like that, just has to be in the game somewhere. I'm guessing its in the intro but if its like say, the opening video of a game mode, that still counts.
Point first) Not sure about recent releases from Rockstar games (last one i got was GTA:SA), but there hasn't been a Take2 logo appearance in any of the GTAs and Midnight Club (first one at least). Then again it could be a new thing.
Point Bee): I don't like the fact that he held it at the browser option at the menu, then quickly changes it to game disc. Then again i can't remember the autoload feature on Ps3 and how it worked (does it load no matter what menu you're at?)
Point Square root of 9) What's up with the deepthroat at the end?
Point IV) Looks extremely dodgy, but there always is that 'what if' so i guess there's only one way to find out (unless the poster/creator of the vid talks).
this is so fake. 1:its too dark like bruce lee three said. 2id yall see how fast he go the disc out and into the ps3 so fast. it was edited so u dont see the disc cuz its fake. 3: take 2 has nothing to do with grand theft auto games and in every gta game a rockstar north and rockstar game symbol comes out. here only rockstar north came out. 4o u really think a gta game would have such a gay titanic looking into like that? 5: at the end when it gets static like u can see it will say deepthroat if u manage to pause it in time. sounds more like a porno video.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the real deal, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't either >_>
Parts of it just don't seem right....But they could just be trying to go in a different direction with this one, is all...
