It's all about contrast Ratio though. And I hope they enjoy selling 5 of these world wide.

I'd rather wait for the OLED Displays which are much better than current and future LCD Displays!!!!

It's all about projectors. I'm telling ya. 15 years from now your projector will be the size of a usb thumb drive, and'll be able to display a screen of almost any size, on any surface.

That's my science-fictional beliefs, anyways.

That kind of resolution is almost useless, nothing supports it yet. >_>

I most disapprove of TV's and the lust for them. However they are a conduit for religous programming. So its not all bad i suppose.

Hur hur hur

Joe, how is it that nothing supports it? PC's support that res fine, they actually can scale even higher than that if you have a decent card, which one would have to hope for if spending that much on a monitor.

Scaling on the fly allows for clean HD content delivery. The fact that it's 2k x 4k isn't much of a challenge for professional photo editors given their raw stock is much higher than that.

This isn't the first time companies have gone this high res (dual-dvi usually made the way for it before) but it is probably the first I've seen for one this high res and of this size as well. I think the largest I saw prior was a Viewsonic going to the professional market at around 22"

Yeah, it is nice. Eventualy HDTVs are going to be that resolution....EVENTUALLY....After all, it was monitors that first started doing higher resolutions, TVs trailed behind by years....Big monitor though...

Yeah, OLEDS should allow for cheaper production of TVs, and have high contrast ratio, so they will likely be the first mass marketed TVs that have that sort of resolution.

Eventually TVs will become true to life, or even better (virtual perfection)....Not soon, but eventually....

More likely, to hit that point, we'll have direct feed neural interface or something >_>

Well, one can hope....

But in any case, on this Monitor, you'd want some seriously hardcore video card....Imagine playing something graphically beautiful, like Crysis, on a huge arse monitor like that?
