Xenu stomps around and demands immediate vengeance
It's time to bust out your e-meters and stay clear of car crashes, because a war has broken out! Well, maybe a war is an overstatement - but there is definitely some conflict coming up between a group of hackers who have labelled themselves "Anonymous", and everyones favorite church-cum-cult, the Church of Scientology.
First, some background: The Church of Scientology was founded by a science fiction writer named L. Ron Hubbard. L. Ron Hubbard was a pretty amazing guy. He used to chill with Blackfoot Indian shamans when he was primary school, and in his teens, hung out and partied with "British intelligence officers, Buddhist priests, US Marines and the last remaining magician from the line of Kublai Khan’s court." After dropping out of some technical school, he became a pilot, even "set[ting] a national soaring record for sustained flight over the same field." Later, he became a writer for pulp ficiton magazines, and after that, this 'thetan-squasher' even founded his own religion. What a guy! (Quotes taken from official Scientology website.)

So, it seems that this Anonymous group wants to take down Scientology. They have officially dubbed this operation "Project Chanology."
Anonymous has set up a blog with more details on their valiant quest. It can be accessed here. They've kicked stuff off with some riveting rhetoric -- here of which is a sample: "Now, gentlemen, we are going to fight for something that is right. I say damn those of us who advise against this fight. I say damn those of us who say this is foolish. The time has come not for us to not only rise as heroes of the internets, but as its guardians."

APCMag reports that Anonymous have instructed people to do some disruptive war-like stuff, such as "flood[ing] Scientology servers with a distributed denial of service attack, choking the Church's phone lines with prank calls and sending looped faxes of solid black pages."
Also, released on Digg through a free file server, someone who claims to be a member of Anonymous put up a 70 MB RAR file called "Scientology Secret Dox" which presumably has secret stolen Scieno-doctrine documents.
"Dear Sci peeps ANON delivers! WE ARE ANONYMOUS WE DO NOT FORGIVE WE DO NOT FORGET WE ARE LEGION" said the guy who put the files up.
Update: An anonymous member of Anonymous has produced another video. It can be found on Youtube right over here. Near the end of this video, Anonymous invites people to protest Scientolgy on the 10th of February. (Thanks for the heads-up, Naoki!)

Why do you think you church has covered up and never talked to its members about some cases which truly made its methods public? Cases like Lisa McPherson, Josephus A. Anonymous respects the efforts of critics such as Jeff Jacobsen and scientology's other enemies, big and small. However, recognize that this is the 21st century.
