The 360 hasn't been breaking any records in Japan.
Despite Microsoft's confidence in their gaming machine, a compilation of game sales in Japan for 2007 showed that the 360 didn't do too well. Recently released by Famitsu, the list revealed that only three 360 titles (Ace Combat, Eternal Sonata and Halo 3) managed to show up in top 20 sales of any, while none broke the top 10 of those months nor the top 100 of 2007.
According to Famitsu, Microsoft sold only 257,841 units in Japan, which puts it far behind domestic competitor Sony Entertainment, who sold one million more PS3's than Microsoft did 360's.
Regardless of Microsoft success (or lack thereof), the top 20 Xbox 360 titles in Japan were mostly developed by Western companies.
