Is Everex going to be the first readily avaiable EEE PC competitor?

Linuxdevices reports that Everex has confirmed that it plans to ship an ultra mobile PC that will compete with the EEE PC.

The "Cloudbook" will apparently ship with gOS early next year, and will reportedly be officially unveiled at CES during the week of January 7th.

The initial Cloudbook model will apparently have:

  • 1.2GHz VIA C7 ultra-low-voltage processor
  • 7" 800x480 screen
  • 512MB of memory
  • wired ethernet
  • WiFi
  • 4 in 1 card reader
  • two USB 2.0 ports
  • DVI output
  • 30GB hard drive
  • 1.2MP webcam.

A developers edition will apparently also sport a touch screen.

The Cloudbook appears nearly identical to the Packard Bell Easynote XS20-006 - albeit with less ram and a lower price.

The standard Cloudbook is said to ship on January 15th for $400.
