PS3 gets its rumble back
Leo Chan - Thursday, September 20th, 2007 | 10:52AM (PT)

Sixaxis to be Dual Shock'd later this year

Sony Computer Entertainment's President and COO Kazuo Hirai officially announces at the Tokyo Game Show what journalists have already uncovered for themselves, namely official support for force feedback in PlayStation 3 wireless controllers. In his keynote address at the Tokyo Game Show vein with the PS2 controllers, the new rumble-ready PS3 controllers will be called Dual Shock 3.

Dual Shock 3 will retain the motion sensing control functionality already available on current "Sixaxis" PS3 controllers whilst incorporating internal vibration motors for force feedback, just like the Dual Shock 2. SCE did not clarify whether or not Dual Shock 3 emerged as a result of its settlement with Immersion; Hirai would only state SCE finally found a way to get force feedback working alongside the Sixaxis motion control. The Dual Shock 3 is scheduled for release in Japan this November, and "early 2008" for North America and Europe.  From the press release, a list of the titles currently expected to receive Dual Shock 3 support:

"Early 08" is still a while away...Even if it is like, January, that is still over 3 months away...Most likely, it will be February or later, release -_-

Whaaa! And here I thought that the rumble pack would have been standard in the first and every PS3 controller. Makes sense though; getting a gyroscope to work with a vibration feature sounds tricky. Hey, what about a light gun, sra they gonna build one. I have 'Time Crisis' for the PS2 and kinda liked the game. But getting to to work on an LCD or Plasma TV would be tricky.

Lol, this should have been standard. So since this is "new" technology are they gonna jack up the price of a controller like this?
