Ya, I'm veeerrry surprised he got offered this. Happy for the guy, but surprised. I can't see iPhone allowing a company to sell unlocked iPhone for use with different carriers. I thought maybe it was a publicity stunt for Certicell, but even that does not seem worth it. Anyways, here is a quote from Certicell's website:
"According to Mr. Terry Daidone, co-founder of Certicell, "We do not have any plans on the table right now to commercialize Mr. Hotz' discovery. However, we are keenly interested in having Mr. Hotz assist our engineers in developing solutions to other software related challenges including software updating, reflashing and memory elimination of repaired and or refurbished cellular handsets"."
Another thing to keep in mind is I think (it is not stated in any of the sources I read) that 350Z is not a new 350Z, but a used one.
Not that there is anything un-awesome about trading a unlocked iPhone for a used 350Z or anything, though.
