What a mentally spastic response.
The politically correctness police are out in full force in Mario Land.

What is to 'get'? 'Spastic' is connsidered more offensive to Brits, so they are recalling a game based on a percentage of them having the offending word in said game...

Well, the other one uses it deliberately though, if you do particularly bad...

Do they mean spaz? if they do i dont think it would cause much harm. its a line in a video game i doubt kids would repeat the word since they are to caught up in the rest of the game.

It's kind of similar to calling someone a 'retard'. A few decades ago, this was fine, as it meant that you suffered from mental retardation. But eventually, the word became an insult for people to call their friends and enemies. So now, it is not considered in good taste to call someone 'retarded' if they have mental handicaps because negative connotations are now associated with the word.
It's the same sort of deal. *I think* you could call someone with muscular control problems a 'spastic', but, it's not cool'n'kosher to call an able-bodied person who can't play Mario Party very well a 'spastic'. The dictionary meaning of the word is the same, but its usage has been 'appropriated' over time, and thus, translation errors (were a word is technically used correctly but is not properly placed).

And another thing.. I'm not sure, but I'd guess that many people with muscular control problems have a sense of humor and would not even be offended by the use of 'spastic' in the game.. .it's just that, for pretty much everything, their are small groups of people who, as a hobby, like to form clubs and groups and give themselves titles and then spend their weekends getting all angry about stuff. I think it gives their lives more purpose or something.

Yeah it means retarded here in the UK, and because parents love to complain about this shit, nintendo go all PC (political correctness, not personal computer) and take it off the shelves.
