Everybody's favorite little droid want to watch a movie with you.

Providing you nave the space, and the cashola of course, LCD projectors make for one heck of a movie viewing experience. Honestly, watching 'The Matrix' on a 6 foot by 8 foot wide screen projection is pretty cool. And watching then old 80's flick, 'Transformers: The Movie' (the old animated one) projected onto the side of a school wall at midnight with more than a thousand watts of speakers is equally awesome. But check this out.

The R2-D2 video projector and DVD player is a must have item for the hardcore Star Wars fan in your life. Measuring in at 34.1x32.8x51.9 cm (or 13.42"x12.9"x20.4") in size, it may not be an exact replica of R2 himself, but it sure is cute. At roughly 8kg (or 17.6 pounds), this droid comes with a 1800:1 contrast projector built in with 1500 lumen's of light output available. His dome head moves from side to side while the legs move back and forth to help find the perfect projection position for optimal viewing. The video and audio jacks are discreetly placed on the rear, and there's even an iPod docking station under one of the front panels. To sweeten the deal even further, it comes with a Millennium Falcon remote control.

Manufactured by the Japanese electronics firm Nikko (an they carry a whole line of R2-D2 type gear) retails for a mere 388,000 Yen (which translates into $3,160 USD space credits).

Just keep in mind, when your playing 3-D chess, just let the Wookie win.

He has to do the 3-D, and he should beep and chirp too, and get me a beer with his little robot arm.

He'll refuse to play episode 1, 2, and parts of 3. Be forewarned.

That's awesome. It's cool that they made an R2-D2 projector, but it's especially amazing that they thought to put an iPod dock in. Imagine your friend bringing over his iPod, putting it in the R2-D2 and playing a movie he downloaded from iTunes. That's great.
