Microsoft Zune not compatible with Microsoft Vista.
J. Micah Grunert - Thursday, November 16th, 2006 | 1:44PM (PT)

Apparently the Zune is too good for Vista, or is Vista too good for Zune?

With the Christmas holiday buying season upon us, every major electronics manufacturer is rushing to get its product onto store shelves and into the hands of cash laden consumers.

Microsoft's Zune Media Player should be a hit this holiday season, as some have dubbed it the iPod killer. But some little quirks with Zune are raising the most perplexing of questions. Just try installing the Zune software onto a rig running Microsoft Windows Vista and you'll get the message "This operating system is currently not supported by Zune".

Kinda silly, right? Microsoft's next-gen OS won't talk with their super duper media player. This is most likely something that will be resolved with the first Vista Service Pack (I'll bet it exceeds 1 gigabyte).

Perhaps the Zune crash screen explains it all.

What was Microsoft thinking?

well considering Vista isn't actually out yet, I'm not worried.

I'd be worried. Vista code is Gold, and people are reporting that Microsoft's own products don't work with it? Does this mean SP1 is going to be out 2 weeks after Vista hits stores?

Vista SP1 . . . please contact your vendor or purchase the Vista SP1 DVD set at your preffered retailer.

Wow. Then again, I agree with Grayfox.

That's the perfect picture there. The irony is gut-bustin'.

This shite won't fly anywhere near the level of ipod goodness. It's like XM trying to steal back consumers from Sirius' doggy bowl.
