SNK Announces the continuation to the KOF series in King of Fighters 2006, although from the look of things in Japan the traditional title is Maximum Impact 2 which would seem to make a bit more sense given that 2006 is the sequel to the original 3D title Maximum impact.
The title is slated directly for home release which may disappoint arcade fans, produced by Falcoon the game is set for release on the PS2 this summer. Of course users can expect the usual suprises such as new characters, updated visuals and most likely other polishes on the previous game.
SNK Playmore has a good outlook on what they expect:
"KOF 2006 will be a perfect mix of speed, beauty and an all-new story line." said Ben Herman, SNK PLAYMORE USA president. "Our fans expect our fighting games to be fast - whether they're 2D or 3D, and KOF 2006 is not going to disappoint them."
Personally the Maximum Impact 2 logo and PV's from Japan aired here would be nice, but chances are the title is going to progress as planned already. Fans of the original should keep their eye out for updates as once new info arrives we'll have it ready.
