A major redesign does not appear to be on the cards, at least
Though Sony itself had previously admitted at this past E3 that the controller design for their PlayStation 3 console was not finalized, GameSpot believes any purported changes will not be substantial. They downplay a new rumor suggesting Sony will unveil a revamped PS3 controller at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2006.
"...Sony Computer Entertainment corporate executive and chief technical officer Masayuki Chatanai told Famitsu after the E3 unveiling that the controller might undergo 'minor changes' but that the form factor would probably stay the same. You may not like the PS3 pad, and what you've seen so far may not be exactly it, but don't expect any kind of "Revolutionary" redesign on it before the system launches. Maybe a trigger here or some tweaked hand grips there, but it'll still look right at home hanging from a bright yellow utility belt.

Ah, but is the boomerang programmable???
i think its good! it's good to have a change from that crap controller. i am starting to become fond of my x box controller just cz the dual shock is so rubbish! i'm gettin the PS3 no matter wht!
If not stick with the familiar design, then make something different.
I still intend on buying a PS3, but not before I grab a Revolution.
I have a controller for the PC made by Gravis that isnt far differant from the PS3's proposed design and that is one of the most comfortable controllers ive ever used..
The only thing Sony might need to do is shorten and possibly bulk up the "arm/handle bits" a little..
I mean, c'mon, if u dont like it, just buy an UnOfficial controller made by someone else...
Just wait and see, and dont knock the controller until you've used it...

SONY is always on top of the video gaming market, and always will be. Your PSP can connect up wirelessly to your PS3 and act as a controller. You can also play your PSP games on your TV through the PS3.
Is there any portable system for XBOX?
I THINK NOT!
I tried out the demo o' the 360 the other day and it just plain out sucked! Everything looks exactly the same! It seems to me that they just stuck the XBOX onto a new case to jack-up the price for their decreaseing sales that are making them lose so much money. Whats with the games! They want $50 to $70 bucks for '1' game! They don't even look hi-def if u ask me. Then you need a HD TV to support seeing anything, if any, hi-res graphics. Them accessories are so damn expensive! $30 to $150 bucks JUST for '1' accessory!
SONY! WAY 2 GO! PS3 KILLS!
Ö
da' 360 goin down the drain, just like your money on it
u 'tarded mon
"OMG new controller design!"
who cares
i get the ps3 no matter what
PEACE!

DanceWithIntensity
Go visit them, it's so freakin' awesome. I downloaded it to my computer for free! I ordered a DancePad for my computer. So, for now I have to use my keyboard to play it, but it's still cool!
the controler has handles 20cm long
i played the 360 and it was way better
ps3 is only concentrating on the graphics so it sucks
I think the new PS3 controller looks quite cool, although hand-held comfort is much more important than design, so I'm not going to condemn the controller until I've actually held it in my hands.
Most gaming companies are with Microsoft Xbox 360, like who ever thought that Square Soft that have been making Final Fantasy games for the Playstion systems would go to Microsoft.
And the controller does make a big different during game play, not the looks, but the feel of the controller.
Go for the Xbox 360.
Have you even used or held the PS3s controller??...no??...diddnt think so!
This because, noone outside of the gaming industry has held it, and the only members of the public that have even seen it up close, have had to look at it through a Polycarbonate case at E3...
There have been no playable consoles on display (as of yet)...
Joloco stated - "And the controller does make a big different during game play, not the looks, but the feel of the controller"...
Have you held the PS3s controller??...Im sure not...
Joloco also stated....
"Most gaming companies are with Microsoft Xbox 360, like who ever thought that Square Soft that have been making Final Fantasy games for the Playstion systems would go to Microsoft"
Most gaming companies are with Sony and the Playstation franchise STILL...
However the amount of developers signed with XBOX has indeed increased, the amout of developers siding with SCEE/SONY, has not demished...
Ps: The Final Fantasy franchise has not decided to "go to Microsoft", over sony...
They have just decided to diversify.
The majority of NextGen FF games will appear on the PS3...however SquareSoft have realised that only making games exclusively for Sony kind of cuts down alot on their targeted market group...thus, it is not an efficient way to make money, and/or run a business...
The PS3 is the superior system, as a simple fact...thats just the way it is...
The Xbox360 is a very good system im sure..but in the way of software support, hardware capabilities, and overall performance, the PS3 does have the edge...fact..
Seriously though, dont knock the the PS3s controller until youve tried it...seriously though...Sony...the company that brought us the phenominally comfortable DualShock controllers...
Do you seriously think that they will produce something that is uncomfortable to use?...
Give them some credit!...for christs sake...Grow up....
the controller might not be the prettiest thng i ever seen but look at the revolution controller IT SUCKS.
so dont judge a book by its cover
ps3 all the way!!
read up on it and dont just look at pics
And I shouldn't of said "Most gaming companies are with Microsoft Xbox 360" but it sure did "increased" like PSAddict said. but i didn't choose my words correctly.
I also have to disagree PSAddict at the same time, because PS3 is not going to be 100 percent "superior"
Someone actually mature enough to admit when they may have got a little carried away when speaking up for their prefirred system...
In the "console wars" it isnt easy to remain unbiast, its almost impossible...lol..
Ill admit, for the time being, that Microsoft and their 360 is superior to the PS3, with reguards to the Online Gaming and content accessable to the systems, increasing the versatility of the units..
Id also say that the 360 is the prettier of the 2 systems, especially with the interchangable faces...although it may not be a necissary feature...
Aswell as Microsofts software support increasing...Sony's support has also increased, with a multitude of new devolopers signing with the PS3 trademark...
With reguards to hardware, the PS3 has the superior processing power using the Cell Chipset...
The VGAs are very similar, although with the PS3, some of the graphical processing tasks should be shared with the Cell...
Graphical and In-built system memory are comparable, more or less identical..
Except the PS3 has dedicated memory modules...
The PS3, with certain technological provisions, has a certain amount of future-proofing...1080p Resolutions, Blue Ray(IF it becomes the standard), and possible framerates of 120fp/s..which will also increase the graphical quality (when the technology arises) and Expansion also(9 or 10 various ports)...
P.S.: The controller is all about comfort not design i don't care if its a cube as long as I can play it for hours!!!
When Sony hasn't revealed the online plans for the PS3. No hate..just a question.
And since when have we cared so much for the look of consoles? The PS1 was ugly, the N64 was ugly, x-box was ugly, and Ps2 was ugly and that didn't stop anybody from playin it. So why would the looks stop you know...especially when both of these consoles look much better than the past consoles.
And I personally like the PS3 controller. It actually grew on me. I didn't like it at first becuase I though it looked cheesy but now I look at it and see a futuristic controller. Plus it looks comfortable. Its just different from the norm.
Anyone that has an Xbox 360 or a very nice PC, get Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion when it comes out. Its going be the best RPG.
Also I think that this controller is going to be more comfortable than the old PS2 and PSX one, OHHHH and for those saying that it sucka and it looks like a boomerang and that is going to be uncomfortable then I have only one thing to say "DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER GIVE IT A TRY FIRST" Sony hasn't let us down before why should Sony led us down when it comes to Next Gen Consoles I'm pretty sure they have a reason of comfortness behin all that bad jokes of the bannana controller or the boomerang WELL THANX FOR READING THIS AND REMEMBER THIS PS3 IS GOING TO !!!!!!!!!ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But back to the controller. Think it'll be uncomfortable? Check this out...
