Enter the Matrix & Walk the Path of Neo
If you're still dying to play as Keanu Reev- errh, The One...
Atari and Shiny have announced that they will be having a second go at a video game based on the world of "The Matrix", currently titled "The Matrix: Path Of Neo". The name essentially spells it out, but there are additional details:
"Set in the Matrix universe, THE MATRIX: PATH OF NEO will enable players to actually play as "Neo," the central character, and relive his most important and memorable scenarios from the complete film trilogy, including the original film, THE MATRIX. Throughout the game, the path the player takes to resolve each scenario and the resulting consequences will be scripted and directed by the Wachowski Brothers. The likenesses of all of the films' key actors -- including Keanu Reeves ("Neo"), Laurence Fishburne ("Morpheus"), Carrie-Ann Moss ("Trinity), and Hugo Weaving ("Agent Smith") -- will be featured in THE MATRIX: PATH OF NEO, which will also include footage from all three feature films, as well as THE ANIMATRIX."
Path Of Neo is penned for a worldwide release on the PS2, Xbox and PC platforms this Holiday season, so we do have a while to wait. Shiny's first Matrix game, "Enter The Matrix", was released back in May 2003, likely in a rush to make it into stores before the third and final Matrix film hit the silver screen not long afterwards.
While the game ultimately met lukewarm reviews, it did make an effort in bridging the second and third films together thanks to all-new material present only in the game itself. Hopefully both Atari and Shiny will be able add more polish (and even more stuff) to their latest Matrix gaming endeavor this time around.
