As part of HP's push into consumer electronics, they are releasing a HP iPod that is exactly the same as the Apple iPod both in terms of specs, looks and pricing.
The players, both dubbed the Apple iPod from HP, will offer the same design as Apple's latest iPod, including features such as the "click-wheel" navigation design. The HP players will also offer the same amount of data storage and the same prices, according to details revealed on the company's site.Someone clue me in as why you would buy an iPod from HP instead of Apple. I guess it is a win/win situation for HP and Apple; HP gets the most recognizable MP3 player on the market and Apple will presumably be able to tap into all of HP's desktop systems with iTunes as the default media player. What Apple needs to do is to release an iTunes like app for video and such to replace Windows Media Player. It will be interesting to see if HP and Apple can leverage iTunes/iPod into the consumer realm. We have seen Apple's Airport Express that streams music from a computer with iTunes to a stereo already.
