77% Speed Up From Alienware Video Array
Terren Tong - Tuesday, June 22nd, 2004 | 8:57AM (PT)

Big gains from Parallel Processing

Something that is lost on a lot of people is the fact that parallel processing rarely translates into a 100% boost in speed. On the processer side there is a fairly large overhead to keep threads synchronous. Alienware's Video Array platform is claiming a 77% boost in video performance, an impressive boost over a single card solution, especially this early in the game.
At 1600x1200 8X Anisotropic and 8X FSAA in 3dmark 03 it claims to have got this marvel seventy seven per cent boost in the overall score - from 1758 with single card to 3105 marks with two NV45s.
This is kind of impressive but I dont think that 3DMarks scale linearly with framerates so this should probably be taken with a grain of salt.
