Expects to have around 40 game titles for handheld console by end of this year, as opposed to 50-100
Reuters writes that Nokia will reduce the number of games they plan to have available for their N-Gage handheld gaming console from their original "50 to 100 titles" projection, to around 40 by the end of this year. There are currently around 20 titles available for the N-Gage now, so that doesn't make for too many new games in the coming months:
"After a major launch of N-Gage last year, however, the Finnish company has admitted sales missed expectations due to the phone's small screen and an awkward way of changing games that requires the user to first remove the phone's batteries, among other things. "For the Christmas market, there will be (altogether) 40 games available," Nokia's Chief Strategy Officer Matti Alahuhta said in a presentation at the Nokia Connection 2004 event in Helsinki. There are some 20 titles available now, he said.
"
Nokia is hoping to address the shortcomings of their original N-Gage by releasing a new model of the console, dubbed the "N-Gage QD" which was announced a little while ago. The revamped QD is already available in Europe, while the North American launch has been pushed back to July next month, according to GameSpot.
