but now comes the important unavoidable question: are they going to let sierra v2 come with new ideas or just have them revive the existing series under that company's flag tuned up for nowaday kids that come with bonus nostalgia dollars?

sierra made many games that were pretty popular in their days.

I never played Sierra games but I know that they were renowned for their difficulty and arguable unfairness. I wonder how that would translate in today's gaming world. Would people get frustrated because they're used to (comparably) easy games? Or will it be like Dark Souls, which blew up because of its challenge level?

Sierra also produced all the proper rainbow six games...

Id cry if sierra said they were producing 2 games which strictly adhered to hl1 and r6's original ethos.

I think people would appreciate the difficulty, but not unfairness. At their best, point & click adventure games had challenging puzzles that made players think. At their worst, you could become hopelessly stuck if an important but extremely tiny object was missed or couldn't move on because some totally illogical, ridiculous MacGuyver-esque use of items didn't occur to you. I don't think most adventure game fans appreciated those levels of frustration, even back then. (Especially since those were the days of limited internet when you probably couldn't just go on a messageboard and likely get a solution quickly) New adventure games wouldn't be restricted by hardware limitations so they don't have to low-res & require pixel hunting. Making a puzzle that is challenging but not frustrating is a more delicate balance. We all have our own idea of what's challenging and what's tedious or frustrating.

Well, all the Space Quest, King's Quest, and Quest for Glory games are available on GoG. Or did you mean you want them on 3.5" floppy disks & only running through MS-DOS?

Anyway, this news is interesting to me, but I'm not sure whether or not I should be excited. For instance, even if they decide to make another KQ, Roberta Williams wouldn't be involved, so I don't know how much it would feel like original KQ.
