It looks like the fans are finally getting what they been asking for for quite some time now. Ganondorf has been revealed in tonight's Nintendo Direct as a playable character in Koei Tecmo's Hyrule Warriors. And yes, this is the dream of every Legend of Zelda fangirl.
Hyrule Warriors is being marketed as an official fan-game and tribute to all Legend of Zelda players over the years, and after tonight's Nintendo Direct that is exactly what it appears to be. To entertain fans, Koei Tecmo has added in a character that happens to be a necessary component to the Zelda formula -- the Demon King, Ganondorf himself. Link's nemesis and well-known Triforce hunter will be taking a different role than what we might have expected. In the reveal trailer, he appeared to be slicing up anyone who got in his way, including the bad guys. With his weapon, the Great Sword, Ganondorf makes himself a force not to be trifled with (Tri-Force, get it?). After slicing and dicing various forms of the common Bokoblin enemy, he showed off his evil side by unleashing dark magic to destroy large hordes of monsters.
Oh, and what version of Ganondorf would be complete without his stylish garb? While his default look is not a familiar one this time around, he can earn some traditional costumes through Club Nintendo. The Demon King, main antagonist of the Legend of Zelda series, really is not one to look bad while attempting to take over Hyrule.
This is the first time that Ganondorf is playable in a Legend of Zelda title, and that alone is enough to make people consider a purchase. Hyrule Warriors for the Nintendo Wii U will be available in North America starting September 26, 2014, though European and Australian players will be able to pick it up almost a week earlier.
