After the rather disappointing reduction to one free game on Xbox One for Games With Gold in July, Microsoft has stepped it up once more with two games for each console in August. If Games With Gold is going to be taken seriously by Xbox Live subscribers going forward then not only do Microsoft need a constant stream of quality games on the service, but two games a month is paramount to compete with the rival PlayStation Plus service.
Xbox One users with a nostalgic yearning for old school arcade space shooters will be in luck next month with Strike Suit Zero: Director’s Cut being one of the two games to head to the console. The action packed shooter from Born Ready Games is a really solid addition to Games With Gold and should help fill the next rather barren months when it comes to games releases. If Strike Suit Zero doesn’t fill that shooter shape void in gamers' schedules then Crimson Dragon is also available next month for Xbox One users. Originally a launch title for the Xbox One, Crimson Dragon is an on-rails shooter set around obliterating enemies from the back of a dragon and is a decent amount of fun. It’s likely not the greatest game people will ever play, but certainly worth picking up while it’s on Games With Gold in August.
As usual those playing on Xbox 360 receive two games once again and both are of a high standard this month. First up is Motocross Madness which lets gamers bring in their own avatars into the mayhem in another game that evokes some good old 90's nostalgia. By far the most exciting of the two games on Xbox 360, however, is Dishonored. The wonderful steampunk world of Dishonored encourages players to tackle obstacles however they see fit is a place all gamers should check out. Plus, when it costs nothing more than an Xbox Live subscription for the month then there’s really no reason not to give it a whirl.
