Bungie today confirmed that the Destiny beta will kick off July 17, first on PlayStation consoles and the week after on July 23 for Xbox. If dates alone aren't enough to get you appropriately pumped, then take a look at the beta trailer below.
Just short of two weeks from now, the Destiny beta will be going live for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on July 17 via the Sony Entertainment Network, at 10:00 AM PT. On July 23, the following Wednesday, it launches on Xbox LIVE for Xbox One and Xbox 360, also at 10:00 AM Pacific. In between, Bungie will be performing some scheduled maintenance work, taking the beta offline from July 21 through July 22.
As for how long the beta will go, it's set to end by the end of the month, on July 27 at 11:59 PM PT. Interestingly enough, the Xbox beta runs alongside San Diego Comic-Con, the largest gathering of self-proclaimed nerds and enthusiasts every year.
To gain access to said beta, all you actually need to do is pre-order Destiny. Depending on where you reserve the game, a beta code will be included with your receipt.
For anyone who hasn't pre-ordered or will simply be missing the beta window, Destiny will be out in just a couple more months, on September 9. Multiple editions of the game, including a $150 Ghost Edition, are also available for reservation starting today.
