BioWare hasn't exactly kept quiet about Leliana's return to Dragon Age in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Well, this week they offered up a closer look at Sister Nightingale, a woman first introduced to us in Dragon Age: Origin as a rather pleasant young lady with a dark past.
Leliana is a woman with many faces, but only her closest allies and friends can call her "Leliana." She was once a woman blinded by love and encouraged to become a killer, but wound up basically finding the Maker and joining the Chantry as a Lay Sister. Over time, she drifted a little closer to her old habits, and now works as a spymaster within the Inquisition. She definitely looks professional and awesome in her new armor, while BioWare also seem to have put a lot of work into perfecting her lips.
The implication is that Leliana won't be a fixed member of your team in Inquisition, but an advisor to the playable Inquisitor and her/his team. Here is what her description from the Dragon Age: Inquisition site says:
She has many names. Most know her as "Sister Nightingale” or “the Left Hand of the Divine.” To the rare friend, she is Leliana. They say she found faith amid darkness, and that her devotion to the Maker is matched only by her devotion to Divine Justinia V, a woman who is both mentor and savior. Those who have earned her loyalty know her as a steadfast ally. But enemies of the Divine know to fear her, for she is the shadow behind the Sunburst Throne—the one who watches and waits, who strikes when her mark is most vulnerable and least suspecting.
Leliana also appeared in the demo shown during E3, when she was rescued from impending torture and then went on to basically defy the Inquisitor's decisions. Overall thoughts? She's become Sister Nightingale the Dark and Edgy, and some people are certainly into that sort of lady.
Inquisition will be released to PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on October 7. Be sure to read our impressions of Dragon Age: Inquisition from E3.
