Another epic update has come to Minecraft, the game of only epic updates. Each update is more epic than the last, as content only gets bigger, better and more badass. Bring on that update, Mojang. What do you have in store for snapshot 14w27a? It looks like we're getting... bunnies! Oh heck yes, there's going to be bunnies like crazy in our Minecraft servers. They're going to be going all extreme hopping about and eating grassy foods and stuff. Epic.
As for other content included in the 14w27a snapshot, well, there's not much of it. It's mostly focusing on optimizations and bug fixes. Here are the full patch notes:
- Bunnies bunnies bunnies.
- It’s a secret to everybody!
- More rewrites, optimizations & bug fixes.
- Improved debug world type.
- Recalibrated the quantum flux regulator.
Considering it's clear that Mojang is trolling us to a degree with these patch notes (quantum flux regulators don't require recalibration), it's difficult to say whether the "It's a secret to everybody!" note is an actual tease. I'd like to hope Mojang snuck in something cool other than bunnies today, but if it's only bunnies then I'm okay with that too.
Since so many people will be asking: yes, this is a PC only update. Odds are it won't be coming to other platforms any time soon, if ever. That's just the nature of the complicated licensing agreement between Mojang and their partners. For PC players, here's how to get the new snapshot:
"To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher. Back up your world first or run the game on in a different folder (See the “new profile” dialog)."
For server runners, check out the Mojang source on this article where you'll find the .jar file for the latest Minecraft snapshot.
