I really don't understand Nintendo's insistence on only allowing 20 plays on demos.

20 plays is generous. That's more than enough to decide whether you want the game. Stop bitching and use an emulator if you want free games. Nintendo meanwhile has to think about the bottom line, and that's game sales. Limiting it to 20 will encourage users to buy the game if they like playing the demo that freaking much

I highly suggest that, if you're curious, you download this demo! The game itself is great, I've been playing it very frequently.

Johnny, I think that Noraf45 is just saying that 20 plays is silly. It's too much to be limiting; if they wanted to limit your use, they should have gone with 5 or 10.

I'm just saying limiting the amount of times you can play a demo is silly. A demo is not a full game. It only gives you access to limited areas, characters, features, etc. to give you a taste of the full game. If you enjoy it and want more, then you buy the game. There's no reason at all to limit how many times I can play a demo. I've downloaded dozens of demos on PS3 and a few on 3DS, and for some reason only 3DS wants to give an arbitrary limitation.

When I downloaded the Bravely Default demo and saw it was limited to 20 plays, I was highly disappointed and couldn't play it as often as I wanted because I knew that there would be a few dungeons to explore and jobs to master, and 20 seemed like it would be gone quickly. So I wouldn't play it even when I wanted to if I was only going to get 10 or 15 minutes in because I didn't want to run out of plays. Instead I would wait until I knew I'd have an hour or more set aside so I could make my limited number of plays count. I had every intention of buying the game and wanted to make sure I got all the bonuses from completing everything in the demo.

In the case of this game, I have no interest at all. However, my daughter won't stop talking about how much she wants it. I plan to get it for her eventually, but the next gift-giving occasion is months away and I don't see justifying a random $40 purchase for one kid without also doing something equivalent for the other. So I'd like to download this demo for her so she can play a limited version until she manages to get a hold of her own copy. But she'll be limited to 20 plays. She's fairly new to games and just likes to mess around in things like Animal Crossing, so I don't think she'll grasp the idea of rationing out her plays or making them count. So knowing this demo is limited like that I think I'd rather not download it at all for her so I don't have to have her complaining about why she can't play her game anymore after a week or two.

Finally, I find it ironic that you'd say I'm bitching about how much I can play a free demo and should just buy a game I intend to but am unwilling or unable to at this exact moment, yet you promote emulating it instead. "Stop bitching about how often you get to use a freely-distributed promotional item and just go steal a copy instead."

I downloaded the demo yesterday, but will play it sometime. This game will be good!

I do love this game. Whilst it is not to everyone's taste, it has made me laugh out loud frequently. I was one of the people who were on the fence about buying this game, but I am so glad I bought it within the first week of it releasing.

I am very glad Nintendo have brought the demo to the eShop public, though. I had a pretty tough choice in who to give my two codes to.

I liked solely for this part. People don't understand this enough.
