Solo Remix features an extra chapter that was not found on the Nintendo DS. This bonus chapter is unlocked following the defeat of the final boss, and it contains more quests, items, and challenges that expand on the already well-known story.
wat.

Are you talking about Another Day? That was always in the game.

You could pick up the cartridge for a little more money, but Solo Remix is excellent as well and it's handy to have around at all times.

I need to buy a new phone that can run it first.

Like how I bought a new iPad when the iOS version came out.

So do you not control your partner separately? I'm confused as to how the gameplay works without a second screen/separate controls.

Your partner is basically a pin. If you use them at the same time as other pins (think combos), then you build up a bar- fill it, and you can use a fusion attack. You fill it up multiple times for higher levels, if memory serves correctly.

The whole 'puzzle' mechanic from the original is delegated to what essentialy amounts to a quicktime event once you activate the fusion attack- the more things you get right in the shortest amount of time, the more damage you do, the more drops you get, etc.

Overall, the combat is inferior in the mobile versions, at least in my opinion. Your partner is completely invincible, and their use commands can be finnicky (such as Josh's- I could never get the hang of using other pins with that down swipe). The fact that you control your partners through the touch mechanic actually limits what ppins you can effectively use with which partner, I think.
