EA and Visceral want you badly, PC gamers. They believe that if you try out Battlefield Hardline for yourself, you're going to want to play the whole thing. Or maybe you'll just be too invested to give the game up once started. Either way, the Battlefield Hardline PC beta is now available to everyone who wants to try it out. All that's required is an Origin account and the willingness to head over to the beta website to register.
As mentioned earlier, EA and Visceral want to sweeten the deal a little bit by offering DLC content in addition to simple beta access. The DLC content will be added to players' accounts at launch, rather than be included for the beta, giving players a bit of incentive to return. Here's the DLC that will be available:
- Weapon camo/skin in Battlefield Hardline
- Weapon sight in Battlefield Hardline
- Additional Battlefield Hardline content
- Unique dog tag in Battlefield 4
Not exactly highly valued content, but anything is better than nothing. Note that the Battlefield 4 dog tag will be available next month, as opposed to all the way at Battlefield Hardline's launch. After all, what good is a Battlefield 4 dog tag if you're switching over to Battlefield Hardline?
A fair bit of controversy is being stirred up by Battlefield fans claiming that EA is taking advantage of fan dedication to the franchise. There are still many issues that fans believe need to be fixed with Battlefield 4, but nevertheless Battlefield Hardline is being released a year later. On top of that, many players feel like Battlefield Hardline isn't doing enough with the property to justify the full price of a new release. To put it simply, fans feel like they're being gouged just so they can keep playing with their friends.
Free is free though, and it's rare that soe many people will have the opportunity to try out one of the major releases of the fall so early in advance. Head over to the Battlefield Blog and register for the Battlefield Hardline beta now, or don't. Either way, good times.
Battlefield Hardline is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 21.
