Pack up and leave town, Microsoft. The console wars are over. Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory 2 has just been announced to be developed for the PlayStation 4, single-handedly assuring us that Sony has claimed victory. The Japanese action-RPG will yet again feature characters representing various consoles who have become cute Japanese fan-fiction, so it should be right up most PS4 owners' alleys.
I'm just being a Silly Sally, of course, but the announcement of the next Hyperdimension game coming to PlayStation 4 is still both surprising and relevant. Plus it could create an interesting situation here in the west. Neptunia will be notable as one of the smaller, but significant, franchises to make the jump from the PlayStation 3's foundation to the PlayStation 4. It's a sign that even the smaller guys in Japan see that Sony's success will only continue to grow.
With regards to the west, it will be interesting to see if NIS America inevitably picks up the localization effort. NIS has localized all of the previous Hyperdimension titles that have come to the United States, but all for an establish PS3 base. Will they invest in a smaller potential PS4 audience and keep up their work on the franchise? I mean, yeah, they almost certainly will, but how fast they do it may say a lot.
Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory 2 is a relatively new announcement and few details are known, beyond the PlayStation 4 platform reveal of course. Look forward to more details in the near future, as well as this acid trip of a platform announcement trailer.
