Grasshopper Manufacture releases the reveal trailer for Let It Die, its first PlayStation 4 title, after premiereing at Sony's E3 media briefing earlier this week. As you'll see, Let It Die is a free-to-play action game that stars YOU (well, a character you create) in a fight for survival against other other players.
Players in Let It Die start only in their underwear, and must kill other player characters that appear in their game for their weapons. When you die in Let It Die, your character data is uploaded online to become part of the "death cloud." Let It Die then uses the infinite power of the (death) cloud to plop your dead character into another player's game as an enemy, complete with anything you had equipped when you first died.
We'll need to wait for more impressions from the game to say if it plays like a head-to-head multiplayer deathmatch, since the dead players that appear in your game may or may not be CPU controlled. We'll likely get a better idea once Grasshopper Manufacture is more forward about what exactly you do after your character is killed and goes online into the cloud. Speaking to Siliconera, Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda ("Suda51") seems to suggest that you data "dies" when you do.
As an interesting aside, Let It Die's press release does confirm that the title was in fact originally announced as Lily Bergamot before it underwent a significant overhaul.
