Good gravy get a load of Nintendo jumping on the open-world exploration bandwagon with this brand spanking new Zelda title it's developing for the Wii U. Why, back in my day we had to explore Hyrule out in the open- okay I'll stop now. To be sure, producer Eiji Aonuma explains during Nintendo's E3 Digital Event briefing that creating the feeling of a vast world in 3D akin to the classic top-down 2D games remains a key area of focus to this day.
With the newly revealed Zelda, Aonuma hopes to realize the most expansive Hyrule yet that does away with "area" boundaries. This isn't just for immersion, as such a world lends itself to encouraging players to try different ways to approach new areas which in turn will also have an effect on how they will solve puzzles on the map (for example).
Don't worry, Zelda for the Wii U hasn't eschewed action in its quest for adventure, if the reveal footage and these new screens are any indication! Link(?) is as handy with his bow as ever, let's hope to see his classic swordplay soon!
