Nathan Drake is getting older. The man that once seemed so invincible now has a weather-worn face, grey hairs and salt 'n' pepper stubble on his chin. Naughty Dog released an all new trailer for Uncharted 4 during Sony;'s PlayStation E3 2014 media briefing today where Drake quite literally starts off face down, beaten and bruised. He does get back up, but as always it seems like Drake is headed towards a worse situation than he left behind. That's why the newly announced full title, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, seems so ominous.
Drake, who we had last been led to believe had settled down of his own accord, is drawn back into an adventurous mission. While the causes of said mission are unclear, they're almost certainly tied to the relationships he has built in the past. Drake must save someone, perhaps through sacrificing himself. To do so he'll travel the world, search through mystical ruins and likely encounter something absolutely crazy that will blow our minds.
The question now becomes... will Drake die? There are two ways for Uncharted 4's new subtitle to be read. The first implies that Drake, whose identity has been established as "The Thief", will come to an end -- die. The other way it can be read is that Drake's identity as "The Thief" will die, but Drake himself will live on embracing his new identity and destiny. I have a feeling that either way, Sully is going to be the one coming out of this adventure the worst for wear.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will release exclusively on the PlayStation 4 in 2015. No gameplay has yet to be shown for what could be the last title in the series, so expect that sometime in the next year? It's bound to come out at one of these big events.
