Since the announcement of Madden NFL 15 back in April there’s not been much in the way of information regarding what will be the latest installment in the Madden franchise. That changed today. With fan voting due to end tonight for the Madden NFL 15 Cover Vote, EA Sports took the opportunity to drop the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming title.
It’s the trailer itself mind that is easily the most exciting piece of news to emerge so far. Our introduction to the gameplay of Madden NFL 15 begins with some live action footage of Carolina Panthers Linebacker Luke Kuechly. Luke was named Defensive Player of the Year during his sophomore season last year.
The second half of the trailer is where fans finally get to see a little of what NFL 15 is about. It depicts glimpses of the defensive side of the game. Kuechly takes on Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch and then shows poor Philip Rivers taking a sack at the hands of two converging opponents. The gameplay footage does look good so far, though it’s perhaps not quite the step up fans may have been expecting from last years iteration, Madden NFL 25.
The cover vote had come down over the weeks to a shootout between Quarterback Cam Newton and Cornerback Richard Sherman. In the end it was the Seahawks' Sherman who came away with the win, gaining 56% of the vote to Cam Newton’s 44%. A total of 661,412 votes were cast. The cover depicts Sherman and his trademark dreads in full game day kit.
Madden NFL 15 is set to release August 26 in North America and August 29 in the EU for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 3. More information is expected to follow during E3 next week.
