Hopefully everyone interested in Ultra Street Fighter IV has figured out how they're going to be buying the game. It's much too complicated for a guy like me to figure out, what with the digital upgrade, the standalone versions, the platform release variances and let's not even get started on Games For Windows Live complicating everything. Like I said, hopefully everyone's ready, because the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 digtial upgrades for Ultra Street Fighter IV are now available.
Sticking with just this one area, the upgrade for Ultra Street Fighter IV requires buyers to own Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition or Super Street Fighter IV. They can then buy the Ultra Street Fighter IV digital upgrade for $14.99. Those who buy via PSN will also get the 2014 Challengers Costume Pack. Otherwise, all of the game's other content is in the box.
"What kind of content is that again?" you might ask. Let me tell you:
- Five New Characters: Poison, Hugo, Elena, Rolento, Decapre
- Total Roster of 44 Characters
- Six New "Battle Environments": Pitstop 109, Cosmic Elevator, Half Pipe and more...
- Balance Update: All original 39 characters have received touch up patches of one sort or another
- New Features and Modes: Lots of stuff, man
For those who already own Super Street Fighter on console, this is basically the an amazing $15 upgrade. Considering everyone else will be waiting for the full retail bundles in August, this is the route any fighter game community members must embrace. Prep for EVO. It's expected.
Ultra Street Fighter IV's digital upgrade for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is available today in North America. The stand-alone retail versions of the game, which don't require Super Street Fighter IV to upgrade from, won't be available until August 5.
