Forza Horizon 2 was announced just yesterday, but in typical ridiculous industry fashion the early media for the game was covered in watermarks due to some nonsense exclusivity. Luckily, these things always pass and so we now have access to a handful of glorious screenshots from the upcoming racing game. As expected, the featured Lamborghini Huracan is prominent in half of the shots. It's okay though, because it is beautiful.
Unfortunately I'm not enough of a gear-head to know what each any every car shown in the screenshots are. All I see is grey car, yellow car, red car, blue car, but they do indeed look very fast.
More than the cars themselves, however, fans of Forza should be looking at the environments around said cars. There are hints at some features that Turn 10 Games may be working on for their racing sequel. For instance, weather stands out in a number of the pictures. Only one seems to actively show rain falling from the sky, but many of them show settled water on the sides of cars. It should be noted that none of the wet cars seem to be in motion, though. I wonder if the sliding rain drop tech is still in the lab.
There's also a screenshot of a car drifting off-road, kicking up dust in a field. It doesn't look particularly great, smoke and dust are ridiculously difficult visuals to get right in games, but it does show that Turn 10 Games is trying their best to make the world come alive in different ways. Now guys, just show me some explosions and I'll throw my money at the screen.
Forza Horizon 2 is planned to release on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 in the fall of 2014. Expect more details and early impressions to come out of E3 next week.
