The grand PlayStation Plants vs. Zombies teasing has concluded! It's been a rough 24-hours, but EA has decided to stop releasing the albeit very cool PlayStation-themed parody concept art pieces for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. Instead, they've gone ahead and fully announced the dang games. Coming to both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 starting August 18, everyone can get their weird plants and zombies shooting action on.
With regards to any PlayStation exclusive content, here's what PopCap had to offer:
"Players can pre-order Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare starting today and get two digital card packs and PlayStation exclusive customization for both their plants and zombies characters including Hat Packs from Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper and Fat Princess games. PlayStation players will also be able to jump straight into the action, never missing a beat with PlayStation®Vita Remote Play during all their favorite multiplayer moments taking on their friends and continuing to sow the seeds of victory."
Accompanying the announcement is a developer led trailer talking about how PopCap has been listening to their fanbase and that they're finally delivering just what PlayStation fans want. What they're really saying is that their exclusivity deal with Microsoft is coming to an end and they can't wait to make money off of PlayStation fans too. I don't blame them!
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is a great game that's fit for both casual gamers and diehard shooter fans. There's a ton of weirdness and quirky gameplay features to keep folk interested even if they keep getting obliterated by exploding chili peppers. It was a shame PopCap made an exclusivity deal to start out with, but now everyone can be friends again. Just don't do this kind of stuff again, please, EA and PopCap.
Listings on Amazon have Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare running for $40 on PlayStation 4 and $30 on PlayStation 3, which is the same retail price as the Xbox versions of the game. Pick either version up when they're full released on August 18 in North America or August 22 in Europe. Expect both releases to come fully packed with all currently released DLC -- and more to come in the future.
Oh, and don't forget that Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will be coming to PC too starting June 24.
